Welcome to the False River area community website! If this is your first visit please take a moment to click here and Register. FalseRiver.com will be a place for the community to talk about current events, everyday lives, and keep up with events planned around our community. We are currently in our very early development and I thought about keeping the doors closed during this period but I thought it would be nice to document things along the way and if you found us to comment and watch along the way.

2010 FALSE RIVER 4th OF JULY BOAT PARADE
The 28th Annual False River 4th of July Boat Parade will be held Sunday, July 4, 2010. Official judging of decorated watercraft and party barges will begin at 12:00 (noon) on south side of False River by Marc Barker’s Family & Friends at the Barker’s two story, octagon shaped pier. Barker’s family pier is located in Jarreau on the Island side of False River near the Pointe Placid Condos. Boat parade participants are asked to circle in front of the Barker’s pier during judging. Judging of decorated piers will be at 11:30 a.m. The Boat Parade will begin at 1:00 p.m., after judging, in front of LA Express Boat Landing and Pointe Placide Condos and run along south end of False River for several miles. The boat parade is open to public with no entry fees or registration. Boat parade spectator viewing is available from private camps along parade route or from watercraft and party barges.
Something new for 2010 announced by Marc Barker, “We have been asked by boat parade spectators with camps on LA Hwy. 1 side of False River (directly across False River from Island side boat parade judging and parade route) for parade participants to also please loop around and pass by camps on LA Hwy. 1 side of False River. This request is optional for boat parade participants. The Best Decorated Pier Trophy will also be judged and awarded to top participant along both the Island side and LA Hwy. 1 side of False River’s south end.”
The 2010 theme of the False River 4th of July Boat Parade is:

I noticed some new construction the other day and it really bit my curiosity. Well here it is. Modular homes on the River! I took a few peeks inside and they are indeed each their own self contained unit. By my guesses it looks about 800 sq ft each with 1 bedroom. I must say the inside looked very high end but I could get enough light to snap pictures of them inside.
And check the roof of the grey one. Solar Panels!!
PS. A nice large aluminum looking pier.

If you have driven down Island Road any time soon you know just how bad it is. It has almost got to the point where I drive more-so in the middle of the road in areas where it gets so bad. I have also been hearing more complaints from residents that have to drive down this road on a daily basis.
The next question that must be asked is do you want a full repave with asphalt or would you rather tear up the current road and start from scratch again. Obviously one is much more costly but will last much longer. Also I would assume they may close down a few parts of the road during construction.
In the end I am no DOT expert just a concerned citizen trying to start a discussion.
